I use the Dynamic Maturational Model of Attachment (DMM). Developed by Patricia Crittenden and many others over more than three decades.
The DMM has an unmatched evidence base, an impeccable provenance and comprehensive explanatory power. There are more than 500 books and peer reviewed research articles that explain and expand on the work of Dr Crittenden.
I use the DMM to help understand how we relate to ourselves and to others, especially those close to us and especially in circumstances of danger or of stress within the relationship.
The DMM model of attachment allows patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving to be understood in terms of lifetime and in particular childhood experiences which have influenced our largely unconscious coping strategies that we use even now, as adults.
